In a significant move towards carbon utilization and the voluntary carbon market, CarbonCure Technologies has announced several key appointments to its team.

Stacy Kauk, a seasoned climate leader with over two decades of experience, has been appointed as the new Chief Science Officer. Kauk, who previously directed a $55 million-plus carbon removal portfolio at Shopify, will lead a team of nearly 20 scientists at CarbonCure Technologies. Her appointment follows her initial excitement about the company's potential, which she expressed in 2020.

Kauk's extensive background in climate leadership, coupled with her recent role spearheading Shopify's sustainability strategy, will undoubtedly contribute to CarbonCure Technologies' mission. She is also the co-founder of Frontier, a $1 billion advance market commitment for carbon removal.

Onne van der Weijde, a veteran cement executive with over 30 years of global experience, has been named Vice Chair at CarbonCure Technologies. Van der Weijde, who currently serves as a senior adviser to the CEO of CRH, joined the Board of Directors of CarbonCure in 2024 and was elected vice chair. His extensive industry expertise will provide valuable insights as CarbonCure Technologies deepens its role in carbon utilization and the voluntary carbon market.

Kristal Kaye is serving as the interim CEO of CarbonCure Technologies. The company is also focusing on expanding its carbon credit program, which offers concrete producers a revenue-sharing model that rewards emissions reductions and CO2 storage. This program, which includes a carbon credit program that shares revenues with concrete producers to accelerate adoption of its CO2 utilization technology, is expected to attract an influx of corporate demand for carbon removal, according to RSS.com.

CarbonCure Technologies' Board Chair, William C. Holden, has over three decades of executive experience in construction materials. The company's new leadership team is poised to drive CarbonCure Technologies forward, as they continue to make significant progress in reducing concrete's carbon footprint and supporting carbon utilization with permanent CO2 storage.
