Fire at an Allotment Garden in Elmshorn: A Collaborative Effort by Local Fire Departments

On Friday, 29 August 2025, a shed in an allotment garden on Neumoor Street in Elmshorn went up in flames. The incident, which occurred in the border area of both municipalities and was quite remote from public roads and a hydrant, required a joint response from the fire services of Elmshorn and Klein Offenseth-Sparrieshoop.

The initial attack was made using the water tanks of the deployed fire engines by Sparrieshoop's forces. A more than 400-meter-long hose line was laid from the Philosophenweg in Elmshorn to ensure a stable water supply. Around 40 firefighters from both departments responded to the incident.

Elmshorn dispatched 16 personnel with 4 vehicles, while Sparrieshoop contributed 25 personnel with 4 vehicles. The Incident Commander was Patrick Gravert, Deputy Chief FF Elmshorn. The fire was brought under control approximately one hour after the fire service arrived.

The Pinneberg fire department's emergency response unit was also involved in extinguishing the fire. Follow-up and clean-up operations continued until around 15:30 hrs.

The fire service cannot provide information on the cause of the fire, and an investigation is ongoing. No injuries were reported during the incident.

For inquiries, contact Kreisfeuerwehrverband Pinneberg Press Officer Michael Bunk at 04120 8254 700 or [email protected]. The report was originally transmitted by Kreisfeuerwehrverband Pinneberg via news aktuell.

The fire service appeals to keep important water intake points clear at all times to ensure a swift and effective response in case of emergencies. Rettungsdienst RKiSH had 1 RTW on standby during the incident.

Despite the challenging circumstances, the fire service was able to bring the fire under control and prevent any further damage. The community is urged to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
