Car crash leads to injured driver, reported by LPI-SLF
Yesterday, at approximately 14:10, a serious car accident occurred on Poßnecker Straße in Unterwellenborn. The incident involved a 47-year-old driver and a 15-year-old girl on a bicycle.
According to the Saalfeld Police Inspectorate, the driver lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road to the right, colliding with the curb. The driver's erratic manoeuvre caused the vehicle to swerve back onto the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the girl.
The girl attempted to swerve left to avoid the car, but unfortunately, the collision was unavoidable. Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy as a result of the accident, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area.
Tragically, the girl sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital by ambulance. The driver did not report any injuries.
