In an incident that occurred on August 23 at around 11:00 PM, a collision involving an Opel took place near Weiler Berrenrath, Hürth. The accident, which was originally reported by Polizei Rhein-Erft-Kreis via news aktuell, resulted in the vehicle veering off a field path, hitting a tree, spinning backwards into a wall, and coming to rest diagonally across the field path.

Both occupants of the vehicle, a 33-year-old driver from Hürth and an 18-year-old passenger, fled the scene on foot. The passenger was treated at the scene and released, while the driver was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

During his escape, the driver fell and was later found by the police near the scene. Upon arrival, the responding officers found the driver to be heavily intoxicated. A blood sample was ordered and taken at the hospital from the driver.

The traffic commission has begun investigating the cause of the accident, and the severely damaged car was impounded for safekeeping. The passenger was located in the nearby area during the search. The 33-year-old passenger from Hürth involved in the accident under the influence of alcohol is not publicly disclosed.

Both individuals sustained minor injuries. For media inquiries, please contact Rhein-Erft Police Press and Public Relations (contact details provided). The police officers who arrived at the scene recorded the traffic accident and secured evidence.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the importance of responsible behaviour on the roads. We urge all drivers to make safe and sober decisions to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
