Call for Witnesses: Multi-car Collision on the Highway Results in Injuries - Seeking Individuals with Insight into the Accident

On August 30, 2025, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A2 near Rodenberg, close to Hannover. The incident involved six vehicles: a VW Touran, a VW Amarok, an Audi Q2, a Ford Transit, a BMW X-series, and two Skoda Octavia.

At around 14:20, the driver of the VW Touran, whose identity remains unknown, stopped on the left overtaking lane on the A2 towards Berlin. However, before emergency services arrived, the driver fled the scene, heading in an unknown direction.

The passengers in the VW Touran, Audi Q2, and both Skoda Octavia were injured in the accident. The 27-year-old passenger in the Touran from Dillenburg was lightly injured, while the 28-year-old passenger in the same vehicle suffered serious injuries. The 74-year-old passenger in the Audi Q2 from Essen was also seriously injured. Additionally, the 40-year-old passenger in the Amarok, driven by a 46-year-old from Brandenburg an der Havel, was lightly injured.

Following the sudden stop of the VW Touran, several following vehicles swerved to avoid a collision, resulting in a series of collisions. The A2 was closed for rescue operations and investigation until around 20:00.

The Hannover Police Directorate is actively investigating the cause of the accident. Witnesses with information about the incident and the fleeing Touran driver are asked to contact the Traffic Accident Service at 0511 109-1888. The total material damage from the accident is estimated at around 36,000 euros. The police are seeking any additional witnesses to the traffic accident to help with their ongoing investigations.
