Caitlyn Scarlett drops new track 'Forgive Yourself' - Now available on PBR
In the heart of London, Los Angeles, and online, a music school is making waves in the industry by offering a unique blend of mentorship, career advice, and opportunities for emerging artists. The school, known as Our School, is led by Kwame Kwaten, the A&R Director and head of Ferocious Talent. Kwame and his team are always on the lookout for new, interesting talents to sign for their record label, Our School Recordings.
If you're an artist seeking a break, you can submit your demos to [email protected]. The school believes in providing equal opportunities for students from various backgrounds to succeed in higher education and in the music industry.
Our School's commitment to diversity extends beyond its student body. The Office for Students (OfS) has identified Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities, students from lower-income backgrounds, students with disabilities, care-leavers, and mature students as underrepresented groups. The school's Access and Participation Plan (APP) for Higher Education programs has been approved by the OfS, ensuring a welcoming environment for all.
One such artist who has benefited from the school's support is Caitlyn Scarlett, a highly-decorated, independent singer-songwriter from London. Caitlyn's new single, 'Forgive Yourself', was recorded with the 14-piece Her Ensemble orchestra, the UK's first Orchestra for musicians of marginalised genders.
'Forgive Yourself' is a powerful ballad about accepting the past and choosing to grow from negative experiences in love. The single was written by Caitlyn with Mercury Prize-winning producer Jonathan Quarmby.
Her Ensemble musicians are not just about making music; they are passionate about creating meaningful change within the industry. They often play around with colourful trouser suits for performances, adding a touch of flair to their performances. The ensemble seeks to engage with new and emerging composers, giving a platform to both contemporary and historic voices.
The school's students also benefit from a range of exclusive resources. Registration grants access to free sounds, plugins, online course samples, and other music-making tools and tutorials.
Her Ensemble was derived from the European Union Youth Orchestra, a testament to its rich history and commitment to nurturing talent. It's clear that Our School is not just a music school; it's a hub for innovation, diversity, and the next generation of music industry leaders.
