General Motors Offers Discounts on Lyriq EV-SUV in New Zealand
General Motors Australia & New Zealand has announced incentives for the new Lyriq EV-SUV, the brand's first electric vehicle confirmed in factory right-hand drive for New Zealand. The offer, available until September 30, 2025, or while stocks last, includes a GST-sized discount, equivalent to a price reduction of approximately $16,000 per vehicle.
The offer applies to both the Luxury and Sport models of the Lyriq. Initially priced at $117,000-$119,000, the vehicle's price was raised to approximately $124,000-$126,000 when it came to market. The post-discount pricing for the Sport model is approximately $109,354, while the Luxury model is now available for approximately $107,615.
However, it is worth noting that the offer in New Zealand does not include coverage of Luxury Car Tax or on-road costs, unlike the offer in Australia. These costs are to be borne by the buyer separately.
The Lyriq is considered a startup for the brand in New Zealand rather than a volume model. As of the year-to-date, only 10 Lyriqs have been registered in New Zealand, including demonstrators.
Looking ahead, General Motors is expected to release a fast Lyriq-V version and smaller Optiq and larger Vistiq models in 2026. The company has not yet disclosed who approved the discount campaign announcements for the NZ models of the Lyriq.
The offer in New Zealand includes automatic coverage of GST at the digital shopfront prior to purchase. Interested buyers are advised to act quickly as the offer is valid only for a limited time or while stocks last.
