Denza, a Premium Electric Vehicle Brand by BYD, to Debut in Australia by End of 2025

Denza, a premium electric vehicle (EV) brand owned by BYD, is set to make its Australian debut before the end of 2025. Mark Harland, Denza Australia and New Zealand's chief operating officer, has confirmed this exciting news.

Harland, who recently returned from his first visit to BYD in China, is no stranger to the brand. He played a key role in its local establishment as COO of EVDirect. His familiarity with BYD will undoubtedly prove beneficial as Denza embarks on its Australian journey.

BYD has already made an almost instant success story in Australia with its line-up of affordable plug-in hybrid and EV models. The Denza Australia line-up is expected to include several models such as the Fangchengbao Bao 5 and Bao 8 off-roaders, Denza Z9 GT, D9 people-mover, N9 and N7 crossovers, Z9 sedan, and Yangwang U8 SUV.

While not all left-hand drive Denza, Yangwang, and FCB models will be available to Australia, a business case needs to be made for their introduction. Harland emphasised that Denza will not shy away from its relationship with BYD, drawing on its fellow BYD sub-brands Yangwang and Fangchengbao for its model line.

One of the key advantages Denza offers is the potential for significantly shorter order to delivery times compared to the norm. This is thanks to BYD's vertical integration of production, which allows for quick turnaround times. Moreover, BYD is responsive to customer feedback and makes improvements with urgency.

Harland, who spent years as an executive of General Motors, including a period as chief marketing officer at Holden, is well-equipped to navigate the Australian market. He can make a phone call to BYD and have orders delivered to Australia within a week. If a current product is not meeting customer demand, he can quickly change or move to another product.

Denza aims to quickly become a major sales player in Australia. It's a goal that, given BYD's track record in Australia and Harland's expertise, seems well within reach. However, it remains to be seen whether Denza will follow the same policy as some premium and luxury brands regarding promoting their links with other brands.

First deliveries to Australian customers will start in early 2026 from 10 standalone dealers located in metro areas. As Denza prepares to enter the Australian market, it's an exciting time for electric vehicle enthusiasts and those looking for a premium driving experience.
