Businesses are establishing themselves at Choctaw Stadium, with further expansions in the pipeline.
Choctaw Stadium Transforms into a Thriving Entertainment Destination
Choctaw Stadium, home to the Texas Rangers, is undergoing a significant transformation, with several local businesses already setting up shop and more on the way. This development is part of Arlington's strategy to make the area an entertainment hub not just on event days, but every day.
Several businesses have already leased storefronts at Choctaw Stadium, including Starbucks, Lone Star Dry Goods, Lucchese Bootmaker, and El Tiempo Cantina. These establishments are located on the west side of the stadium. The city also has plans to lease more spaces, with a sports memorabilia store and a police storefront for event security being among the potential additions.
The businesses in the area are excited about the planned improvements and are also interested in enhancing pedestrian areas around the stadium. One such improvement is the exploration of parking solutions, such as expanding street parking by changing a valet lane into diagonal parking spots, which could create 20 or more parking spaces.
Ongoing renovations include the center field office spaces, which already house a shared office, Spark Coworking, with more expected to join. The entertainment district around Choctaw Stadium is expected to continue attracting visitors, even on days without events, thanks to these renovations and new storefronts.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup next June and the IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington in March next year are expected to bring even more foot traffic to the area. The city's successful payoff of its debt from the construction of AT&T Stadium 10 years early has generated interest in the happenings at Choctaw Stadium.
City Manager Trey Yelverton stated that these renovations and new storefronts are playing a significant role in making the entertainment district a destination, even on days without events. He also mentioned that there are options for valet parking with validation from local businesses, and other parking solutions are being explored.
To make the walk along Choctaw Stadium more attractive, non-digital signs, new plants, lights, flags, and decorations are planned. A new digital screen has also been installed at the intersection facing Texas Live, enhancing the area and bringing a small-time square vibe. Choctaw Stadium recently had digital signs installed above the entrance facing Loews Arlington Hotel and Texas Live.
One Rangers Way, a Rangers-themed luxury apartment complex, is situated right across the street from Choctaw Stadium, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the area. Raul Gonzalez, District 2 council member, asked Yelverton about parking in the area, specifically discussing parking for customers of businesses at Choctaw Stadium with the Texas Rangers.
The developments at Choctaw Stadium have generated a lot of excitement, and the area is poised to become a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.
