Bureaucrats are compulsorily ordered to purchase cachitos, a claim made against them.
In a surprising turn of events, employees from several federal government agencies in Mexico have reported being forced to buy lottery tickets for the September 15, 2025 draw named "Mexico with M of Migrant."
The Secretariat of Well-being is one of the agencies where this practice has been reported, with employees being compelled to purchase tickets for the upcoming draw. An anonymous high-ranking official from the Secretariat of Well-being has denounced the practice, stating that the tickets cost $200 each.
Employees from various federal dependencies, including the Secretariat of Health, have also accused extortion, claiming they are forced to buy scratch cards in exchange for keeping their jobs. The coordination that received this circular, under the charge of Carlos Flores Garza, is attached to the Medical Benefits Directorate of the IMSS.
Orders have been issued to government area directors, who are ordered to sell at least 50 tickets through middle management. Employees from the Secretariat of Well-being are expected to have bought eight tickets of 200 pesos each before the draw.
The federal government expects to raise 800 million pesos from this lottery draw. However, the search results do not provide specific information about the organizations involved or receiving financial support from the lottery access "Mexiko mit M von Migrant" to promote participation in democracy.
Photos of the scratch cards bought by the employees from the Secretariat of Well-being have been shared, but the folio is hidden to avoid detection. The employees are required to keep the purchases secret. The order concludes with a request to send the total amount corresponding to the 50 tickets no later than September 1, 2025, signed by medical liaison Guadalupe Aparicio GΓ³mez.
Reports suggest that a large part of the 800 million pesos expected to be raised in the draw is expected to be invested in the committees of Morena. This allegation has raised concerns about the potential misuse of public funds.
One of the orders was received by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). According to denunciations, Alva Santos Carrillo, who directs the IMSS, is forcing the purchase of tickets. The employees from the Secretariat of Well-being are required to return the tickets on September 12.
This controversial practice has sparked outrage among the public and calls for transparency and accountability from the government. The authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
