In a tragic event that shook the community of Minneapolis, a shooting took place at Annunciation Catholic Church. Among the victims was 10-year-old Weston Halsne, who, remarkably, is expected to make a full recovery.

Weston was inside the church when the shooting erupted. He recalled feeling gunpowder on his neck as he ran for cover. His friend, Victor, bravely shielded him, taking a gunshot wound to the back in the process.

Sadly, two children, Fletcher Merkel (8) and Harper Myoski (10), lost their lives in the attack. Eighteen churchgoers were also injured, including Weston and Victor.

Weston was hit by a bullet fragment that lodged near his carotid artery. He will require surgery to remove the fragment. The doctor treating Weston described his survival as a miracle.

Victor, too, is a survivor of the shooting, having sustained a gunshot wound to the back. The exact injuries of his sister, who was also injured in the incident, were not specified in the fundraiser set up for Weston's medical expenses.

The shooter, later identified as Westman, previously named Robert, was armed with three guns - a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol, all of which were purchased legally. Westman fired all three weapons during the attack, targeting stained glass windows at children praying on the pews.

In an unsettling discovery, racist and anti-Semitic messages were found written on one of Westman's weapons. After the attack, Westman turned the gun on herself and was found dead inside the church.

The incident has left a lasting impact on Weston. He has developed a fear of being alone and loud noises. Despite the trauma, his resilience shines through, and he continues to fight for his recovery.

Our thoughts remain with the victims and their families, and we hope for a swift recovery for all those affected by this tragic event.
