The much-anticipated construction of an interim building for the Kita project is set to commence in the coming weeks, as announced by the project's board. The decision, described as a factual, transparent, and suitability-based selection, was made in late 2023 following careful consideration and consultation with the board, involving Jessica Stegemann's appointment.

Earthworks with the use of excavators and trucks will begin soon, paving the way for the creation of gravel pads that will serve as a base for angle stones. These preparations are crucial for the installation of the screw foundations, which are expected to be completed by mid-September.

Once the foundations are in place, modules for the interim building will be set up on the site in Cappel by the fourth quarter of the year. Following this, interior construction can begin. The progress of the construction process will determine whether the interim building could be completed by the end of the year.

It is worth noting that if soil conditions allow, the screw foundations may be reused when the modules are rebuilt. This eco-friendly approach is a testament to the project's commitment to sustainability.

During the work on the interim and subsequent new construction of the Kita building, the soccer field will be available for use with some restrictions. Outdoor facilities, including access, escape routes, recreational and play areas, parking spaces for vehicles and bicycles, will be created parallel to the interior construction.

Upon the completion of the interim building, the screw foundations will be removed after the modules are dismantled, marking another significant step towards the completion of the Kita project. The construction of this interim building is a promising development for the community, offering a temporary solution while the new Kita building is being built.
