In two separate incidents, the dedicated firefighters of Feuerwehr Hattingen and Elfringhausen responded promptly to emergencies that occurred on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

On Tuesday at 6:45 PM, a collision between a car and a tractor took place on Felderbachstraße in Elfringhausen. The drivers of both vehicles were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention. The Elfringhausen fire station ensured the safety of the scene, disconnected the vehicle batteries, and took care of the injured parties who were already outside the vehicles and were only lightly injured.

Meanwhile, in Hattingen, a smoky apartment fire broke out near a sofa, prompting the dispatch of a firefighting team in heavy breathing apparatus. The fire was extinguished, and one resident was quickly evacuated through the staircase and handed over to the rescue service. Spilled hazardous materials were absorbed with a special binding agent, and the firefighters ventilated the apartment and the staircase with a high-performance fan to clear the smoke. The second person in the apartment was also safely evacuated by the firefighters and received care from the rescue service.

In a subsequent event on Thursday evening, a fire incident occurred on Blankensteiner Straße, prompting the dispatch of additional fire stations and protective equipment units. Further firefighters positioned the turntable ladder in front of the building as a precaution. After handling the injured, the scene was handed over to the police.

It's worth noting that in both incidents, the quick response of the local fire services and the effectiveness of smoke alarms proved to be life-savers.

Despite extensive searches, the identity of the individual who made the fire brigade call on Blankensteiner Straße on Thursday evening remains unknown.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the crucial role that our local fire services play in ensuring the safety of our communities.
