Buenos Aires Election Results Timeline: When Can We Expect Initial Data?

The citizens of Buenos Aires province will head to the polls on Sunday, September 7, 2025, to vote for legislative and municipal positions. This marks the first major election since the implementation of the Single Paper Ballot, officially established through Law 27,781 passed on October 1, 2024.

On the same day, the first results of the Buenos Aires elections will be published around 21:00 or when at least 30% of the tables are counted in each electoral section. The voting process will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A total of 46 provincial deputies and 23 provincial senators will be elected. The preliminary results are expected to be announced around 9 p.m.

The voters in Buenos Aires will have the opportunity to cast their votes again on September 7, as the province will participate in the national legislative elections on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The national legislative elections will elect 24 national senators and 127 national deputies.

The national elections will also take place on October 26, with the final count beginning on Saturday, September 13, at 8:00 a.m. The first results of the national elections will be announced on the same day, with the final tally officially declaring the results and determining the winners in each category.

There are certain circumstances where an absence from voting can be justified. These include if the voting day was more than 500 km from the voting location, if there is a certified health issue, or if there was a verifiable emergency.

It is important to note that those who are obligated to vote and do not will have to pay a fine and be registered in the Voting Obligation Infractions Registry, unless they meet certain exceptions.

In the first election results in Buenos Aires on September 7, the outcome showed a clear defeat for President Milei's party and a victory for the center-left alliance Fuerza Patria, which received over 47% of the vote compared to Milei's 33.7%.

The voting process in both the Buenos Aires and national elections will take place using the Single Paper Ballot, a system designed to streamline the voting process and increase security and transparency.

Voting is a fundamental right and a responsibility for all citizens, and it is important to exercise this right and make informed decisions at the polls. Stay informed and get out and vote!
