After a tenure of 22 years, Christine Merritt is stepping down as the president of the Ohio Association of Broadcasters (OAB). Effective today, Chad Budreau has taken over the position, marking a new chapter for the organisation.

Budreau, a seasoned professional with a diverse background in broadcasting, association management, and government relations, brings a wealth of experience to the OAB. He has worked with various broadcasting stations, including WIPB-TV Muncie, Indiana, WOUB-TV Athens, Ohio, and Whitewater Broadcasting's Richmond, Indiana radio stations.

Budreau's extensive career also includes a 15-year stint with the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the last six of which he served as its executive director. Here, he navigated the challenges presented by emerging industries such as artificial intelligence and drone technology.

His background positions him well to guide the OAB into the future. Budreau has worked with numerous government agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, Department of Homeland Security, and others. This advocacy experience will be invaluable in leading legislative efforts at all levels.

Brian Lorenzen, president and general manager of WTOL-TV Toledo, expressed delight at Budreau joining the OAB. "Chad's background in association management, broadcasting, and government relations positions him well to guide the OAB into the future," Lorenzen said.

Budreau expressed eagerness to collaborate with Ohio's radio and television stations. He aims to strengthen the OAB's advocacy, foster innovation, and support the work of member stations. The OAB, which represents more than 400 TV and radio stations across the state, provides advocacy, compliance, and training resources to support its members.

Prior to his new role, Budreau reconnected with the broadcasting industry, where he began his career. He received a bachelor's degree from Ball State University and a master's from Ohio University.

Chad Budreau's predecessor as president of the Ohio Association of Broadcasters was John Bennett. Budreau takes over at a crucial time, as the broadcasting industry continues to evolve and adapt to the challenges and opportunities presented by technological advancements.

With his extensive experience and commitment to the industry, Budreau is poised to lead the OAB into a bright future.
