British entrepreneur Castore enriches herself through acquisition of Belstaff brand.
Castore Acquires Belstaff in Strategic Move to Expand Brand Reach
In a significant development, British sportswear company Castore has announced the acquisition of luxury men's clothing brand Belstaff. This move is part of Castore's ambitious plan to broaden its horizons and further expand the reach of its brand.
Belstaff, renowned for its sportswear, particularly for motorcycling, was previously owned by the Ineos group, a British multinational chemical company. The acquisition marks Belstaff's departure from the Ineos group as it undergoes a restructuring plan due to a slowdown in its main business and an increase in net debt in its key divisions.
Ineos group, apart from being a major player in the chemical and plastics industry, also produces materials used in textile manufacturing, among other sectors such as automotive, construction, and pharmaceuticals.
The financial details of the sale between Castore and Ineos have not been disclosed. However, it is worth noting that Castore's value was estimated at £950 million (€1.1 billion) in a funding round led by the investment firm Raine in November 2023.
Castore's brand collaborates with various sports such as football, golf, rugby, cricket, and motorsports. With the addition of Belstaff, the company's portfolio expands to include a wider range of lifestyle and premium sportswear.
The founders of Castore, Tom Beahon and Philip Mountford, have expressed their excitement about the acquisition, stating that it aligns with their vision to create high-performance, sustainable, and stylish sportswear for athletes and enthusiasts alike.
In 2024, Castore made its mark in the football industry by becoming the first founding partner of Eventon FC. The company expanded its brand reach further by signing as the technical sponsor of Eventon FC and, subsequently, becoming the founder partner of the Hill Dickinson Stadium, owned by Eventon FC and inaugurated on August 24, 2024, with a capacity of 52,169 fans.
It is important to clarify that the acquisition of Belstaff does not include assuming Ineos' debt. Castore, in its mission to maintain financial stability, has made it clear that it will not take on any of Ineos' obligations.
As Castore continues to grow and evolve, the acquisition of Belstaff is a testament to the company's commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional products to its customers. With a strong focus on performance, style, and sustainability, Castore is poised to make a significant impact in the world of sportswear.
