Transfer News: Facundo Buonanotte Moves from Brighton to Chelsea

After spending last season on loan at Leicester City, Argentine midfielder Facundo Buonanotte is set for a new challenge, this time at Chelsea. The London club has agreed a loan deal with Buonanotte's former club, Brighton, for the versatile player who can operate as an attacking midfielder or right winger.

This transfer marks another instance of a player moving from Brighton to Chelsea, following the likes of Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez, who joined the Blues in 2022, and Moises Caicedo, who broke the British transfer record by moving to Chelsea in 2023.

Meanwhile, Joao Pedro also joined Stamford Bridge from Brighton in a £60million deal in July.

Buonanotte's departure from Brighton comes after the exit of manager Graham Potter and his staff, who left for London three years ago.

During his time at Leicester City, Buonanotte made a significant impact, playing 35 games in all competitions and scoring six goals, providing three assists. However, his potential move to Leeds United, which was previously close to happening, has now collapsed.

Leeds United, who have been linked with Leicester's Bilal El Khannouss throughout the summer, are reportedly showing interest in Krasnodar's Eduard Spertsyan and Strasbourg's Dilane Bakwa. The Yorkshire club are also tipped to return with an offer for Tottenham's Manor Solomon.

All clubs in England have until 7pm on Monday evening to get any potential deals over the line before the transfer window shuts.

BlueCo, led by Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly, has also agreed a deal to sign Julio Enciso permanently for Strasbourg, with a long-term view for him to arrive at Stamford Bridge.

As the transfer window draws to a close, the race for signing top talent is heating up, with clubs scrambling to secure their targets before the deadline.
