Bremen’s Updated Senior Guide Helps Residents Age Independently at Home
Bremen’s latest guide for older residents has arrived. The 2023/2024 edition of Aging in Bremen offers key details on services and support for seniors. It aims to help people stay independent and comfortable in their own homes for as long as possible.
The guide is split into eleven chapters, covering everything from counselling and self-help groups to health, finances, and long-term care. A special section focuses on age-friendly housing, giving advice on how to adapt living spaces for greater independence.
An annotated directory lists care homes and assisted living options, including policies on pets, personal furniture, and shared spaces. Some facilities even provide extras like hairdressers or kindergartens where residents can volunteer occasionally. However, no single facility in Bremen currently meets all these criteria at once. Copies are available for free at City Hall, district offices, libraries, and senior centres. The guide can also be downloaded from the Senator for Social Affairs’ website, making it easy to access.
The updated guide gives older residents clear options for housing, health, and daily support. It highlights available services while acknowledging gaps in certain specialised living arrangements. Free copies ensure the information reaches those who need it most.
