Udo Peltzer Retires as Head of Federal Police Inspectorate Cologne
After a distinguished career spanning approximately 42 years, Udo Peltzer, the Senior Police Director, has announced his retirement, effective at the end of August 2025. The news was shared during a small ceremony held in a cathedral city on August 19.
Throughout his tenure, Peltzer served as the leader of the Federal Police Inspectorate Cologne, responsible for federal police tasks in the Cologne, Bonn, Siegburg, and Siegen areas, covering around 8,000 km². This region, under Peltzer's leadership, has been a cornerstone of Germany's security infrastructure.
Peltzer's career has been marked by numerous challenging leadership positions at airports, train stations, and borders - both nationally and internationally. His dedication to duty and exceptional achievements have earned him recognition for his dignified representation of the security of Germany and beyond for decades.
Barbara Heuser, the President of the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin, praised Peltzer's contributions. "Udo Peltzer's leadership has been a beacon of excellence for the Federal Police Inspectorate Cologne," Heuser said. "His dedication and commitment to our mission have been unwavering, and his impact will be felt for years to come."
