BPOL NRW: Brave Traveler Thwarts Theft - Escapee Thief is Apprehended on Tracks Following the Incident

On August 25, 2025, a theft occurred at Aachen Central Station, Germany, on platform 8. The incident was reported to the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin at approximately 16:00 hours.

The victim of the theft was quickly located by the officers, and thanks to their quick action, they were able to recover the stolen backpack. The victim noticed the theft and provided crucial information to the authorities.

The apprehended thief was identified as a 32-year-old man from Syria. In addition to the theft charge, the thief was also reported for illegal entry onto the tracks. The suspect was apprehended thanks to the descriptions and direction of flight provided by fellow passengers.
