Boxing legend Carl Froch, aged 48, in discussions for potential comeback; warns potential opponent with ominous promise of ferocious battle
In an intriguing turn of events, former unified super-middleweight champion, Carl Froch, is considering a comeback fight against Darren Till, a former UFC welterweight title challenger who has made a name for himself in KSi's Misfits Boxing promotion.
Froch, who last stepped into the ring against George Groves at Wembley Stadium 13 years ago, has been in discussions with Kalle Sauerland about the prospective bout. The retired boxer expressed his thoughts on the matter in a video on his YouTube channel, stating that while he doesn't necessarily need or want to fight Till, he has sought opinions from respected individuals like Rob McCracken.
Till, who was released by the UFC at his own request in March 2023, made a beeline for Froch after his brutal knockout of ex-UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold late last month. However, Froch has questioned Till's minerals due to his quick tap outs during fights, comparing his behaviour during submissions to his friend Michael Bisping, who refused to tap out during a fight with Georges St-Pierre.
The promoter who negotiated the possibility of a fight with Froch in the influencer boxing scene is Frank Warren, and these negotiations took place in 2025. The prospect of earning "easy money" by beating Till has led to Froch holding talks with Misfits bigwig Mams Taylor, former coach Rob McCracken, and old promoter Eddie Hearn. Interestingly, Froch has broken contact with Hearn as part of these discussions.
Despite the challenges and the question marks surrounding Till's performance in recent fights, where he has had five defeats in his last six, Froch is not dismissing the idea of a fight with Till outright. He plans to visit the gym and assess the situation after returning from Canelo vs Crawford.
As Froch considers a reunion with his old team for one last fight, the boxing world waits with bated breath to see if the potential showdown between the two athletes will materialise.
