Boston Charity Claims Record $25M Lottery Win in Massachusetts

A Boston-based charity has claimed the largest lottery win in Massachusetts this year. The Open Door Trust secured a $25 million jackpot from the state's new '$25,000,000 Mega Money' scratch ticket game. After taxes, the organisation will receive $16,250,000.

The winning ticket was purchased at a store on Montague City Road in Turner Falls. As a result, the venue will get a $50,000 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket. This marks the first time the $50 scratch game has awarded its maximum jackpot since its launch.

Renat Lumpau collected the prize on behalf of the Open Door Trust. The charity's win stands as the biggest in Massachusetts for 2024, surpassing all previous scratch card payouts this year.

The $25 million prize will now support the Open Door Trust's work in Boston. The store that sold the ticket also benefits from a $50,000 reward. This win highlights the growing popularity of high-stakes scratch games in the state.
