In Spite of Auto Industry Turmoil: Bosch Predicts Slight Expansion - Bosch projects modest growth despite ongoing automotive industry difficulties
In the face of a stagnant global vehicle production, weak demand, and delays in electromobility and automated driving, German technology giant Bosch is expected to grow this year, according to its own statements. Despite many areas of the company being only partially competitive, Bosch is determined to push through.
The CEO of Bosch, Stefan Hartung, has emphasised the company's dual focus on both software and hardware, stating, "Bosch can do both." The largest Bosch business area, accounting for over 60% of the group's total revenue of around 90 billion euros, primarily revolves around these areas.
The shift towards software-driven mobility is likely to further increase pressure on margins, a challenge that Bosch is preparing to address. Hartung has introduced a series of cost-cutting programs since the end of 2023, with the need to continue reducing costs being a key priority.
Last year, the revenue of Bosch's supplier division fell by 0.7%, but the company expects a 15 percent increase in revenue from this area this year. Bosch also anticipates a slight growth of approximately 2% in its supplier area this year, as announced at the IAA Mobility auto show in Munich.
However, Bosch has been struggling with the crisis in the automotive industry, and the company has been implementing measures to adapt. Thousands of jobs are expected to be cut worldwide in the coming years, many of them in the supplier area in Germany.
Despite these challenges, Bosch remains optimistic about its future. Hartung underscores the importance of sophisticated hardware, stating, "Without sophisticated hardware, even the smartest car wouldn't move an inch." Bosch supplies automakers with high-performance computers and software, ensuring that the vehicles of the future will indeed move.
Based in Gerlingen near Stuttgart, Bosch continues to navigate the complexities of the evolving automotive industry, striving to maintain its position as a leading technology company.
