In the world of cinema, anticipation brews for Guillermo del Toro's latest masterpiece, "Frankenstein." The Mexican director, known for his intricate and visually stunning films, has been eager to bring Mary Shelley's classic tale to life since he was just seven years old.

The central figure of this film is not the traditional Frankenstein but his monster, played by Australian heartthrob Jacob Elordi. Elordi, who rose to fame with the TV series Euphoria, has taken on a daring role, spending much of the film naked, wearing only a pair of yellow bandage hotpants.

Elordi's preparation for the role was swift, with the director approaching him just nine weeks before the cameras started rolling. To embody the monster, Elordi adopted a Yorkshire accent and spent about three or four weeks immersing himself in the character.

The creature's appearance is a departure from the traditional portrayal. With pale blue skin and almost veined with scars, this new monster is a sight to behold. The head was based on phrenology diagrams, while the body was streamlined for beauty, resembling a car.

Del Toro's vision for the creature was unique. He wanted it to be newborn and beautiful, with no stitches. This decision, along with Elordi's performance, promises to create a fresh take on a timeless character.

The film will have a limited release in cinemas before becoming available on Netflix. Netflix's boss, Ted Sarandos, attended the press conference for the film, indicating the streaming giant's high hopes for the project.

Netflix is indeed pinning some of its Oscar hopes and ambitions on "Frankenstein." Alongside "Jay Kelly" and "A House of Dynamite," the film is one of Netflix's great hopes for winning a Best Picture Oscar.

Interestingly, British actor Andrew Garfield originally signed up to play the role but had to drop out due to scheduling issues. This paved the way for Elordi to step into the shoes of the iconic monster.

Elordi attended the Venice International Film Festival for the world premiere of Frankenstein. Accompanying him was his mother, following his recent breakup from his girlfriend, Olivia Jade.

Del Toro is having a 'very fluid dialogue' with Netflix over how long the film might spend in theaters. If the film can reach over 300 million viewers, Del Toro has stated that he would take the opportunity and the challenge to tell the story further.

With its unique take on a classic tale, stellar cast, and visionary director, "Frankenstein" is shaping up to be a must-see film. Whether it will live up to the hype remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—it promises to be a cinematic experience like no other.
