Borders have seen approximately 12,000 returns since May, according to Dobrindt's statement.

In a recent appearance on the ARD program "Caren Miosga", Alexander Dobrindt, the Federal Minister of the Interior, discussed Germany's border policies and migration.

Dobrindt did not specify a particular migration limit, but he emphasised the need for a tougher stance at the German borders to curb irregular migration. He mentioned the existence of an integration limit and stress limits that must not be exceeded.

Since taking office, Dobrindt has ordered the strengthening of controls at the German external borders, which has resulted in the rejection of over 12,000 illegal entries at the German borders since May 8. Among these rejected entries, approximately 660 people sought asylum.

The rejection of asylum seekers at the German border is part of the strengthened controls at the external borders. This legally controversial procedure was ordered by Dobrindt. The low number of asylum claims at the German border can be attributed to this strengthened rejection, as Dobrindt stated that it no longer makes a difference at the border.

Dobrindt also highlighted a problem situation that has built up over ten years, stating that it is about correcting the situation and ending the "overburdening of Germany".

However, Dobrindt's policies have not been without controversy. Beyond the 12,000 rejected entries announced by him, the intensified rejection of illegal border crossings under his direction has led to continued enforcement of stricter asylum and border policies, despite some court rulings declaring these rejections unlawful. This policy has also influenced political dynamics domestically and in neighbouring countries like Poland by fueling nationalist and anti-German sentiments.

Dobrindt acknowledged that every new action creates more problems. Despite this, he remains committed to his course of action at the German borders.
