Border Control Success: Federal Police of NRW Conduct Efficient Checks
On Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, the Federal Police in Germany made two significant arrests at Gronau and Kempen train stations, as well as on the A40 highway.
On Tuesday morning, a 36-year-old Uzbek man driving a car registered in Paderborn was stopped by the Federal Police on the A40. During the check, the man presented a completely forged Austrian identity card. After his arrest, it was revealed that the Uzbek man had obtained the forged documents from the darknet.
The man could not provide a valid driver's license and gave false information about himself. However, investigations showed that he had a valid German residence permit from the Paderborn Foreigners' Office. Despite this, he could not produce any identification documents to the officers. After completing the police procedures at the station, the man was allowed to continue his journey.
On the same day, August 19, 2025, a 44-year-old German man was arrested at Gronau train station by the Federal Police for violating the Narcotics Act. Further information about the German man and the details of his arrest can be obtained from the Federal Police Directorate Saint Augustin, the Federal Police Inspectorate Kleve, or the official Federal Police website.
The Romanian man, who was a passenger in a car registered in Wesel on August 19, 2025, was arrested the following day. A search of the vehicle revealed a replica weapon (toy pistol) and another completely forged Austrian identity card in the trunk. The man does not have any known connection to the previous cases mentioned.
The Romanian man is wanted by Romanian authorities with a European arrest warrant for copper theft. On Wednesday, the Romanian man will be brought before a judge to open the arrest warrant. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Düsseldorf issued a detention order for the Romanian man on the same day.
The Romanian man entered federal territory on the A40 from the Netherlands. During his interrogation, he could not give a plausible reason for presenting the forged documents. Further information about the Romanian man can be obtained from the aforementioned sources.
The arrested German man has a 10-month prison sentence to serve due to a previous conviction. After his arrest, the Federal Police took the German man to Münster prison to begin his sentence.
