BMW Group reaches a significant milestone by selling its three-millionth electrified vehicle.
In a significant stride towards sustainable mobility, the BMW Group announced the sale of its three millionth electrified vehicle in August 2025. This milestone was reached just three years after the company sold its second million, demonstrating a rapid growth in the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles.
The BMW Group's electrified vehicle sales have been particularly strong in Europe, accounting for over 60% of the total sales. If all 1.5 million fully electric vehicles sold by the BMW Group were lined up, the distance would exceed 6,500 kilometers, roughly the distance from Munich to New York.
Jochen Goller, a member of the board of BMW AG, stated that electrified vehicles are an integral part of the company's product portfolio. In the first half of 2025, more than every fourth vehicle sold by the BMW Group was electrified, marking a "strong increase" in sales of fully electric and plug-in hybrid models.
The 1.5 millionth fully electric vehicle sold by the BMW Group was a battery-powered MINI Countryman from the Leipzig plant. The BMW brand's plug-in hybrid vehicles have also seen a significant sales increase compared to the previous year in the first half of 2025.
In addition to the fully electric models, customers also have more than ten plug-in hybrid models to choose from. As of the current time, customers of the BMW Group have over 15 fully electric models of all corporate brands to choose from.
The BMW Group's strategy focuses on electric, digital, and circular mobility of the future. In June 2023, the company achieved the sale of its first ten million electrified vehicles, a testament to its commitment to sustainable mobility. With Europe being the largest sales market for the BMW Group's electrified vehicles, the company is poised to continue its growth trajectory in the coming years.
