Blue Jacket Fashion Show kicks off NYFW with cancer advocacy and star power
The ninth Blue Jacket Fashion Show opened New York Fashion Week on World Cancer Day. This year's event combined high fashion with men's health advocacy, offering free prostate cancer screenings alongside a star-filled runway. Celebrities and designers came together to support the cause in style. Frederick Anderson launched the Blue Jacket Fashion Show to raise awareness of prostate cancer, the second most common cancer among cisgender American men. It remains the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in this group. The event has since become a key fixture during New York Fashion Week, held this year at LAVAN 641.
Top US designers, including Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors, reimagined the classic blue jacket for the show. Their custom pieces were modelled by celebrities like Bill Nye the Science Guy, who walked the runway in a tailored design. The star-studded event was live-streamed nationwide, with viewing parties turning it into a global movement.
Mount Sinai Hospital supported the cause by providing free PSA screenings on the day. All proceeds from the show went to ZERO β The End of Prostate Cancer, funding research and patient support. The Blue Jacket Fashion Show once again merged fashion with activism. Free screenings, celebrity involvement, and designer collaborations helped spotlight prostate cancer awareness. The event's success reinforced its place as a highlight of New York Fashion Week.
