In a significant move for the crypto industry, BlackRock Inc., the world's largest asset manager, has filed with the SEC for approval to stake Ethereum within its iShares Ethereum Trust. This move positions BlackRock to potentially enhance ETF returns through Ethereum's proof-of-stake protocol.

The filing comes amid growing institutional interest in crypto ETFs, with 21Shares, an institution that filed an application with the U.S. SEC in early July 2025, also seeking approval for an Ethereum staking ETF. If approved, BlackRock would be able to stake ETF-held Ethereum, integrating staking rewards into their product offerings.

The news of BlackRock's filing has had a notable impact on Ethereum's price, with a surge of 112.22% over 90 days. As of now, CoinMarketCap lists Ethereum's (ETH) price at $3,770.74 with a market cap of $455.17 billion, and trading volume reached $38.09 billion in the last 24 hours, reflecting a 7.66% change.
