BJP Anticipated SIR Would Instigate Bihar's Divide, Yet Found Themselves Caught in the Fray: Kanhaiya Kumar
In the lead-up to Bihar's upcoming Assembly elections, various political issues have come to the forefront, with key figures voicing their concerns and opinions.
People in Bihar are demonstrating a keen political awareness, understanding the connection between politics and its impact on their lives. One such issue that has sparked controversy is the deletion of names from the draft voter list, which has caused concern for those affected. If the government and the Election Commission fail to restore these deleted names, the Special Intensive Review (SIR) issue could become a major problem.
Kanhaiya Kumar, a prominent Congress party campaigner in Bihar, has connected the SIR issue to other concerns such as education, healthcare, and employment in the state. He believes that left politics is about questioning power, and he worries that this tradition of questioning is being weakened today.
The opposition alliance will contest all 243 seats in Bihar's Assembly election, with the Congress party also entering the fray. Kanhaiya Kumar joined the Congress party because he saw it as the biggest opposition party, uniting various groups and fighting for people's rights. There have been speculations about Kanhaiya Kumar potentially joining the BJP in the future, similar to other Left leaders, but he has denied such rumors.
The BJP, on the other hand, has been accused of jumping back to the past and using the Lalu era as a distraction from current issues in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav, a key opposition figure, has alleged a plot by the BJP and the Election Commission to 'finish democracy' in Bihar.
The opposition INDIA bloc is conducting a Voter Adhikar Yatra against the SIR of electoral rolls in Bihar. Kanhaiya Kumar sees the deletion of voters from the draft electoral roll as an attempt to strip people of citizenship. He questions the machinery running the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and not the machine itself.
However, questions about vote theft in Bihar have been raised, with Prashant Kishor and Samrat Choudhary being asked to clarify the matter. Despite these challenges, the political landscape in Bihar remains dynamic, with the people actively engaging in the political process and demanding their rights.
