Biker perishes in accident
In a tragic turn of events, a 64-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a traffic accident that occurred on Köpenick Straße in Kreuzberg, Berlin, yesterday afternoon around 16:30.
The motorcyclist was traveling towards Schlesisches Tor when a 63-year-old woman, driving a car, attempted to turn right into a property. This manoeuvre caused the motorcyclist to swerve left, leading to a collision with the woman's car.
The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries in the accident and was taken to a hospital. However, he passed away at the hospital on Sunday evening as a result of his injuries. The woman and the 54-year-old man driving the other car involved in the accident were unharmed.
The victim of the accident was a 64-year-old woman, according to the latest reports. The woman was using the bike lane on the right side of the road to overtake other vehicles at the time of the incident.
The investigation into the traffic accident is being led by a specialized commission for traffic offenses of the Police Directorate 5 (City). The traffic investigation unit of Police Directorate 1 (North) has also taken over the further investigation.
At the time of writing, the name of the special commission conducting the investigation is not known. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
