Severe Motorcycle Accident in Kreuzberg: Woman Hospitalized
A serious motorcycle accident occurred in Kreuzberg, Berlin, around 4:30 PM on Köpenicker Straße, near Schlesisches Tor. The incident disrupted traffic flow for several hours, but has since been restored.
According to the police, a 64-year-old woman was severely injured in the accident. She was riding her motorcycle on the right bike lane to overtake other vehicles when a 63-year-old woman in a car attempted to turn right into a driveway. The motorcyclist swerved left to avoid a collision, but ended up colliding with another car, driven by a 54-year-old man.
Despite the collision, the 63-year-old and the 54-year-old remained uninjured. However, the motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with severe injuries and admitted for further treatment.
The traffic investigation unit of Police Directorate 1 (North) is handling the further investigation. No charges have been filed as of the time of this article's publication. The motorcycles involved in the accident were towed away from the scene.
The accident resulted in the closure of Köpenicker Straße near Schlesisches Tor for several hours. The 64-year-old woman remains hospitalized for further treatment of her injuries.
The police have stated that the responsibility for the investigation lies with them, as investigations are ongoing. No other authority has been indicated.
