Biathlon-DM champ Preuß clinches final title victoriously

The German Biathlon Championships under summer conditions recently concluded, serving as an essential part of the athletes' preparations for the upcoming winter season, the World Cup, and the Winter Olympics in Antholz.

In the women's competition, Franziska Preuss emerged victorious, securing the Overall World Cup Champion title. Her success comes after her comeback following maternity leave, a testament to her determination and skill. Notably, Preuss had no shooting errors in the final championship race on roller skis, further highlighting her dominance.

Janina Hettich-Walz, another athlete making a comeback after maternity leave, surprised many with her performances. She won the sprint and short individual races at the Arber and finished second in the final championship race on roller skis, over half a minute behind Preuss.

The results of the German Biathlon Championships significantly influence who will secure a starting spot in the World Cup. Among the women, Franziska Preuss and Janina Hettich-Walz are likely to be strong contenders.

In the men's competition, Justus Strelow secured the championship race victory, while Philipp Horn triumphed in the short individual event. The men's title at the reported tournament in 2025 was won by Philipp Horn. Lucas Fratzscher finished second in the championship race, and among the top three was Philipp Nawrath in third place.

The German Biathlon Championships concluded with Franziska Preuss securing the title in the pursuit, marking a successful defence of her championship. Selina Kastl took third place in the final championship race on roller skis.

As the World Cup season approaches, athletes will continue to fine-tune their skills in anticipation of the first race on November 29 in Östersund, Sweden. The Winter Olympics with the biathlon events will be held in Antholz, providing a significant goal for these dedicated athletes.
