In the picturesque Estergebirge region, a new chapter begins as Hans Kriner and Magdalena Rieger assume management of the Krunner Alm and Finzbach Alm. The duo will oversee these alpine farms until October, providing a warm welcome and delicious homemade treats to hikers and cyclists.

Hans Kriner, a trained mason, took over the community herdsman role from his uncle. With a lifelong connection to the alpine pasture, he didn't hesitate to accept the offer when approached by local farmers. Today, he manages 63 cattle belonging to 8 Krunner farmers, ensuring their wellbeing and the sustainability of the alpine pasture.

Magdalena Rieger, a former biathlete from Mittenwald, found her new life dream in the mountains after an injury. Her passion for the outdoors and hospitality led her to join forces with Hans, managing the huts and supplying visitors with snacks and homemade cakes.

The Krunner Alm, situated at an elevation of 1621 meters, is open daily except Wednesday, from 10:30 am to 5 pm, and on beautiful Tuesdays until 7 pm. The Finzbach Alm, located at a lower elevation of 1040 meters, offers a more relaxed atmosphere.

The couple can rely on the support of their families on stressful days, especially during the busy 5.5-month season without vacation. After the animals return to the valley in the fall, Magdalena will return to her role in the office of the ski club Partenkirchen.

The Krunner Alm has been a beloved destination for many years, and the community is excited to see what the future holds for Hans and Magdalena. The position was previously held by "Wuif'n-Max" for 24 years, but he had to step down due to health reasons.
