BetMGM cracks down on harassment with new sports betting integrity rules
BetMGM has rolled out a new integrity policy aimed at shielding athletes, coaches, and league staff from betting-related harassment. The move comes as legal sports betting continues to grow, with Missouri set to become the latest state to legalise it in December 2025.
The updated rules will apply across all 30 markets where BetMGM operates, covering both retail and mobile platforms. Once approved, the policy ensures uniform protection regardless of location. This includes the ability to suspend accounts linked to confirmed cases of harassment.
The company's chief compliance officer, Rhea Loney, stressed BetMGM's commitment to sports integrity. She confirmed that decisive action would be taken against any verified misconduct. The policy also forms part of a wider responsible gaming strategy, featuring educational campaigns and customer safety tools.
Support for the changes has come from NFL legend Barry Sanders, a BetMGM ambassador. He highlighted the need for respect in both sports and betting. The announcement follows projections from the American Gaming Association, which estimates around $1.7 billion in wagers for the upcoming Super Bowl.
The new policy reflects BetMGM's push to maintain ethical standards as sports betting expands. With Missouri becoming the 39th state to legalise it later this year, the company aims to set a benchmark for industry conduct. Account suspensions and stricter oversight will now apply to any confirmed harassment cases.
