BetBlocker Wins Top Award for Free Gambling Blocking Tools

BetBlocker, a UK-registered charity, has won the Jim Wuelfing Annual Award for Prevention at the 2024 National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) Awards. The honour recognises its work in providing free tools to help people limit access to online gambling. Pedro Romero, the charity's chief of safer gambling partnerships, accepted the award on its behalf. BetBlocker offers free software that blocks access to both licensed and unregulated gambling sites. The tool works across multiple devices, including iOS, Android, Windows, Apple, Linux, and Fire OS. Users can also schedule blocks in advance with a Calendaring Feature, designed to protect them during high-risk periods.

The charity's services extend beyond English speakers, with translations available in six other languages. This ensures support reaches minority communities who may face language barriers. Recently, Stake, a major online gaming and crypto betting company, announced a safer gambling partnership with BetBlocker to promote responsible play.

To strengthen its technology, BetBlocker will now integrate Blask's Artificial Intelligence solutions. This collaboration aims to improve the effectiveness of its responsible gambling tools.

Meanwhile, the NCPG has launched a tribal advisory council. The new group will focus on developing culturally sensitive approaches to gambling harm prevention. The award highlights BetBlocker's role in expanding access to safer gambling tools. Its software remains free and widely available, covering a broad range of devices and languages. The partnership with Blask and the NCPG's new advisory council signal further growth in responsible gambling support.
