Bernie Leadon's long-awaited solo return shakes up music after 20 years

Bernie Leadon, a founding member of the Eagles and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, is making a long-awaited return to the spotlight. After more than two decades since his last solo release, the musician has signed a major publishing deal and announced a new album. His upcoming work and recent industry moves signal a fresh chapter in his storied career. Leadon recently headlined at AmericanaFest in Nashville, Tennessee, marking a rare high-profile appearance. His performance came as Warner Chappell Music (WCM) secured him in a long-term, worldwide publishing agreement. Guy Moot and Carianne Marshall, co-chairs of WCM, expressed excitement about bringing Leadon into their roster, praising his enduring influence.

Greg Sowders, SVP of A&R and Catalog at WCM, highlighted Leadon's musical brilliance and lifelong dedication to his craft. The deal coincides with the announcement of Too Late to Be Cool, Leadon's first solo album in over 20 years, set for release on October 10.

Meanwhile, industry shifts continue elsewhere. Ian Harrison will take over as CEO of A2IM on October 1, replacing Dr. Richard James Burgess, who steps down at year's end. In another development, Carlos 'Charly' Pérez has launched Studio VII, a new firm focusing on communications, PR, entertainment, and event production. The company has also formed a strategic alliance with Warner Music Latina to develop new talent and expand its artist roster. Leadon's return with Too Late to Be Cool and his partnership with Warner Chappell Music mark a significant moment for fans and the industry. The album's October release follows years of relative quiet, while his publishing deal underscores his lasting impact on American music. His next steps will be closely watched by those who have followed his career since the Eagles' early days.
