Berlin-Mitte’s skyline evolves with bold new infrastructure and high-rises by 2030
Berlin-Mitte is set for a wave of major changes over the next few years. New infrastructure, research hubs, and high-rise buildings will transform the district’s landscape. Several key projects are already underway or planned for completion by 2030.
One of the most visible developments is the John Jahr Haus, a 17-storey mixed-use tower on Kurfürstenstraße. Designed by Barkow Leibinger, the firm won the competition for the project in 2019. The building will feature offices, shops, restaurants, and 46 residential flats, with completion expected in March 2026.
These projects will reshape Mitte’s urban environment, adding modern infrastructure, green spaces, and research facilities. The changes reflect the district’s ongoing growth as Berlin’s political, cultural, and economic centre.
