Belgian Government Announces Appointments to Kansspelcommissie (KSC)

The Kansspelcommissie (KSC), the local gaming regulator in Belgium, has undergone a series of appointments, as announced by the Belgian government on August 26. The appointments were made in accordance with the Royal Decree concerning the KSC composition, as published in the Belgian Official Gazette.

The KSC now represents five separate ministers, including the Minister of Finance, Minister of Justice, Minister of Economy, Minister of the Interior, and Minister of Public Health.

In the Ministry of Finance, Philippe Waeytens, Anne-Loure Mouligneaux, and Pierre Mouligneaux have been appointed as deputies, representing Ignace Vandewalle. The Minister responsible for Belgium's National Lottery, Tom Van Caeckenberghe, will have Michel De Wolf and Maarten Van Sande as his deputies.

The Minister of Justice, Nathalie Patoussa, will be represented by Daisy Vervenne and Jessica Failla. Niek De Meester will serve as the deputy for Daisy Vervenne, while Philip Willekens will represent Beatrice Vossen.

In the Ministry of Economy, Michaël Stokard and Koen Peumans have been appointed as representatives, with Virginie Desmet and Koen Peumans serving as their deputies, representing Stéphane Obeid and Sahin Yazici, respectively.

The Minister of the Interior, Stéphane Obeid, will be represented by Lucas Ducarme and Philip Willekens. Sandrine Daoud will serve as the deputy for Ferdinand Van Der Gracht, representing the Minister of Public Health, Isabel Moens.

Each of the twelve effective and twelve substitute members will serve six-year terms, as announced in August. The head of the Kansspelcommissie, Wim van Biesen, will continue to oversee the Belgian lottery, ensuring compliance with the regulations set by the KSC.

These appointments follow the exits of several former KSC members, marking a new chapter for the regulatory authority of the Belgian gambling sector. The new members are expected to bring fresh perspectives and contribute to the ongoing efforts to maintain fairness, transparency, and integrity in the Belgian gaming industry.
