The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) makes an announcement about a decision. - Bayer's standout player Wirtz wins season award.

Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz (21) has been recognized as the Bundesliga's standout player in the 2023/24 season by the DFL. This announcement was made on Monday afternoon.

Wirtz made a substitute appearance in the 2-1 triumph over Augsburg, putting on quite a show despite recovering from a thigh injury. He couldn't manage to score during his 30-minute performance. Augsburg's goalkeeper Tomáš Koubek thwarted Wirtz's attempt at scoring his 12th goal of the season, which would have been his 150th competitive match goal for Leverkusen.

Despite not netting a goal, Wirtz is undoubtedly set to play a significant role in Leverkusen's upcoming finals against Bergamo (22.5.) in the Europa League and Lautern (25.5.) in the DFB Cup.
