Bayern Munich Extend Away Win Streak, Augsburg Struggle at Home

Bayern Munich continued their dominance in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory over FC Augsburg, extending their unbeaten streak away from home to nine matches. The Bavarian giants have now won 10 of their 14 away games against Augsburg, boasting a remarkable 71% win rate against the club they have faced at least 10 times.

The home side started the match brightly, with Chrislain Matsima, Dimitris Giannoulis, and Marius Wolf scoring for Augsburg against SC Freiburg in their previous game. However, they could not replicate that form against Bayern, as the visitors took control of the match.

Manuel Neuer, Bayern's goalkeeper, showed his class once again, making crucial saves to keep a clean sheet and secure the second-most clean sheets in the league in 2025 (eight). Meanwhile, Augsburg goalkeeper Rafal Dahmen prevented 10 goals in the Bundesliga in 2025, according to Opta's expected goals on target conceded model, but it was not enough to stop Bayern's onslaught.

Bayern's new signing, Luis Diaz, made a strong impression on his first Bundesliga appearance, contributing a goal and two assists. The standout performer, however, was Harry Kane, who scored a second-half hat-trick to equal the number of hat-tricks he scored in 320 Premier League matches (eight). Kane is also the only player in Bundesliga history to have scored more goals (65) than the number of matches he has appeared in (64).

Vincent Kompany, Bayern's boss, is aiming to select a lineup capable of winning every match with energy. The Belgian defender warned teams not to underestimate Bayern's hunger to win this season, stating, "We are not to be underestimated. We are here to win every game we play."

Augsburg, on the other hand, have picked up just one point in their last four Bundesliga home games. They started their season with a 3-1 win over SC Freiburg, but their performance against Bayern highlighted their struggles. Vincent Kompany joked that the match could be considered a derby if they travel by bus.

Michael Olise scored a first-half brace against Leipzig, but it was not enough to prevent Bayern Munich's 6-0 victory in their season opener. Bayern will look to continue their impressive form when they face Borussia Dortmund next, while Augsburg will be hoping to bounce back against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
