Bayern Munich transfer target Jackson aims to rekindle talks following Chelsea's veto on his loan agreement
In a surprising turn of events, Armando Broja's proposed season-long loan move to Bayern Munich has been called off, leaving Chelsea in a striker crisis.
The Albanian international, who has not played for Chelsea this season due to being told he is not a part of Enzo Maresca's plans following the signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, flew to Munich on Saturday to finalize the deal. However, the move was aborted due to Chelsea's injury problems.
Chelsea striker Liam Delap is expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks due to a hamstring problem, leaving Maresca with only Joao Pedro as his fit senior striker. The situation becomes more precarious if Broja were to join Bayern Munich, as the only currently fit older striker at Chelsea, if the transfer of Christopher Nkunku to Bayern does not materialize, is Nkunku himself, who is also being pursued by Bayern Munich.
Nkunku, who has joined AC Milan this week, leaves fewer striker options for Chelsea. In light of this, the club is reportedly considering signing Conrad Harder from Sporting Lisbon before the transfer deadline on Monday. The potential signing of Harder could potentially open the way for Broja to join Bayern Munich.
Broja's agent, Diomansy Kamara, has insisted on social media that Broja is not returning to Chelsea, and expressed hope that the deal with Bayern Munich could still be salvaged. Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that the deal was off after Chelsea asked to have Broja returned.
Kamara stated that they are still in Munich, implying that Broja is still in the city. It remains to be seen whether a resolution can be found that benefits both parties.
Meanwhile, England forward Cole Palmer is also out due to a groin injury, adding to Chelsea's woes up front. Broja's turbulent time at Chelsea since joining from Villarreal two years ago, marked by criticism of his erratic finishing, has taken another unexpected turn.
As the transfer deadline approaches, Chelsea will be under pressure to address their striker shortage, with the potential signing of Conrad Harder offering a glimmer of hope for Broja's future at the club, should the deal with Bayern Munich fail to materialize.
