Bavaria’s BKDR Celebrates Five Years of Preserving Russian-German Heritage

The Bavarian Cultural Centre of Germans from Russia (BKDR) has marked its fifth anniversary. Over the past half-decade, the organisation has worked to highlight the heritage of Germans from the post-Soviet space. Its efforts have earned recognition not just in Bavaria but across Germany and beyond.

Founded under the Bavarian State Ministry of Family, Labour, and Social Affairs, the BKDR has built a strong reputation. The team focuses on sharing the culture and history of Germans from Russia through targeted projects and innovative formats. One standout success was the We Are Together Festival of German Culture in Astana, which became a flagship event.

The BKDR’s work has already reached far beyond regional borders. With continued state support and a solid foundation, the centre is set to further its mission. Future projects will focus on cultural preservation, digital innovation, and wider public engagement.
