In the heart of Italy, the Veneto region continues to cement its position as the country's largest wine producer. With an annual production of over 10.6 million hectolitres, it far surpasses the output of other regions, including Puglia, a title it once shared in a fierce competition.

The success of Veneto can be attributed to the production of two of Italy's most famous wines: Prosecco and Pinot Grigio delle Venezie. Notable producers like Villa Sandi and Bisol for Prosecco, and those in the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions for Pinot Grigio, play a significant role in this high output.

Prosecco, a sparkling wine beloved worldwide, is primarily produced in the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and the provinces of Treviso and Vicenza. Top producers such as Bortolin Angelo and Le Contesse contribute significantly to the region's Prosecco production, with the Veneto producing approximately 660 million bottles annually.

The French president has also shown a connection to the Veneto wine scene, owning a wine estate in the region.

The Veneto is also the main producer of the inter-regional Pinot Grigio delle Venezie, with approximately 250 million bottles produced in 2024, according to the Consorzio Delle Venezie.

A recent panel tasting results for Amarone, another renowned Italian wine, have further highlighted the region's winemaking prowess. In 2023, despite adverse weather conditions, the Veneto continued to thrive, vinifying 10.6 million hectolitres of wine.

The Veneto's wine dominance extends beyond these well-known labels. The region is also known for its premium content on wine investment, English sparkling wine, Piquette, Meritage blends, Burgundy, and Rhone reds, making it a hub for wine enthusiasts and investors alike.

As we take a tasting journey back in time in the cellars of Tedeschi, it becomes clear that the Veneto's wine legacy is one that continues to evolve and flourish.
