Barry's Bay local wins first Catch the Ace lottery prize of $1,094

A lucky Barry's Bay resident has taken home the first weekly prize in the Catch the Ace lottery. Bernard Potvin won $1,094 after revealing the eight of diamonds in the inaugural draw. The event supports the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation, with local businesses boosting the funds further. Potvin's winning ticket was drawn from the first week of the Catch the Ace campaign. He uncovered the eight of diamonds in envelope 24, securing his $1,094 prize. His plans for the money are practical—he intends to buy a new set of tyres for his car.

The lottery's second draw is set for Thursday, September 25th. This time, the progressive jackpot has grown to $4,141, with an estimated weekly prize of $1,000 up for grabs. McRae Lumber has pledged to match proceeds from every $5 ticket sold over the next month, adding to the fundraising total. So far, the company has already donated $2,735 to the cause. Their ongoing support aims to increase the funds raised for the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation.

The Catch the Ace lottery continues to gain momentum, with the next draw offering a larger jackpot. Potvin's win marks the start of what organisers hope will be a successful fundraising effort. Ticket sales and matching donations will determine how much more the campaign can raise.
