Historic "Luther" Restaurant in Aalen Up for Sale

After seven years of operation, the historic "Luther" restaurant in Aalen is seeking a new owner. The restaurant, located at Martin-Luther-Straße 9, was initially opened as an upscale wine and café bar with a small food menu in 2018 by Peter Baur, who purchased the building in 2007.

The flower shop of Elke Fritz was a previous tenant in the building until October 31, 2018. However, hiring staff to run the "Luther" was deemed too expensive given the current revenue, leading to its closure at the end of 2021.

Despite the closure, Peter Baur has no regrets about opening "Luther" over seven years ago. He shared that he won't try his hand at being a restaurateur again. The kitchen of the "Luther" is already equipped, ready for a new owner to start cooking up a storm.

The potential buyer of the historic building is the Hotel Kaiserhof Victoria GmbH. The outdoor seating of the "Luther" has been sold separately.

The "Luther" reopened under the management of Peter Baur's daughter, Paula Baur, in June 2022. However, the reopening was short-lived, as the restaurant was closed again shortly after. Plans to boost the frequency in the business with a "Tapas concept" after the Reichsstädter Days in the fall of 2021 were not pursued in the new year, and the "Luther" remained closed.

With the closure of the business, there will be more time for the other children in the family. The house at Alter Kirchplatz 4, one of the oldest houses in Aalen and located in the heart of the city, has potential buyers. Some of these buyers are considering reopening a restaurant on the ground floor, while others have ideas for other services.

The banner for selling the "Luther" has been hanging in the window of the restaurant for about a week. Peter Baur can no longer manage both his massage practice and the restaurant, and his wife Jenny cannot run the restaurant on the side. The closure of the "Luther" was primarily due to private reasons, despite the lack of revenue and increasing challenges in the restaurant industry.

The "Luther" has a rich history and is a beloved establishment in Aalen. As a new owner steps forward, we look forward to seeing the restaurant thrive once again.
