Barricades stand strong against unwanted intrusions

In the past week, a series of attempted burglaries have been reported in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss region. Despite these attempts, the intruders have not managed to gain access to the interiors of the buildings.

On August 1st, burglars targeted a single-family home on Herzbroicher Weg in Korschenbroich, causing significant damage to the rear terrace door. Potential burglary tools were found in the vicinity, but it seems the suspects did not gain entry to the house. A person was seen fleeing over an adjacent field and driving off in a car via the L382.

In Neusser Furth, an attempt was made between August 2nd, 14:00 and August 3rd, 00:45, on Plankstraße. Suspicious noises were reported around 03:50, and the police were alerted. However, the method of entry remains unknown, and it appears the suspects also failed to gain entry to the building.

In Dormagen, an attempted break-in also failed at Unter den Hecken street between Saturday, 20:00 and Sunday, 11:30.

In the Büderich district of Meerbusch, suspected burglars gained access to an elevated terrace of a multi-family building between Saturday, 22:30 and Sunday, 08:30. Inside, the suspects attempted to open an apartment door but failed to unlock it. Another attempt was unsuccessful at Oststraße in Büderich between 11:30 and 21:00. The method of entry is still unknown.

The Kriminalkommissariat 14 of the police has taken over the investigations into the series of attempted burglaries. The failed burglaries suggest that the burglars are opportunistic, using simple tools and working under time pressure. If they can't quickly gain entry to a building, the burglars often abandon their plans.

The police authorities responsible for the investigations have not been explicitly named, but for incidents in that region, local police contact points such as the police in Dormagen (phone 02131 300-0) are relevant for reporting and inquiries. This indicates the involvement of the local police departments in Rhein-Kreis Neuss.

In response to these incidents, the police are offering free on-site consultations for tenants and owners to discuss security measures. Security measures at particularly vulnerable points can help prevent burglaries, according to the police. An appointment for a consultation can be made by calling 02131 3000.

Witness information can be provided to the police at 02131 3000 or by email at [email protected]. Press inquiries should be directed to the Kreispolizeibehörde Rhein-Kreis Neuss Press Office, which can be contacted at Jülicher Landstraße 178, 41464 Neuss, by phone at 02131 300-14000, by email at [email protected], or online at https://rhein-kreis-neuss.polizei.nrw. Fresh tool marks were found on the main entrance door of the building where the burglars did not gain access.
