In a bid to enhance convenience and security, Chase is urging its customers to transition from paper checks to direct deposit. This shift comes as the U.S. Department of the Treasury plans to phase out paper checks for most federal payments by September 30, 2025.

Direct deposit offers numerous benefits. Customers can access their funds anytime, anywhere, ensuring payments are deposited directly into their accounts often on the same day they are issued. This not only eliminates the risk of lost or stolen checks but also reduces the delays associated with paper checks.

Steve Goodman, Head of Product for Chase Consumer Bank, emphasized the importance of direct deposit in reducing the risk of theft and delays. "Direct deposit offers a safer, faster, and more convenient way to receive payments," he stated.

Chase is committed to supporting its customers through this transition. Customers can speak to a banker at a Chase branch to learn more about how direct deposit can help them qualify for no monthly service fees. For those who currently receive paper checks, enrollment in direct deposit can be done by contacting the federal agency that pays benefits, visiting GoDirect.gov, or calling the Electronic Payment Solution Center at 800-967-6857.

Chase branches are located in all lower 48 states, providing personalized assistance in setting up direct deposit. Customers can find the nearest Chase branch using the branch locator tool at chase.com/locator.

The U.S. federal agency that disburses payments received by U.S. customers at Chase is the Treasury Department's Bureau of the Fiscal Service. In 2023, the Bureau announced its plans to phase out paper checks for most payments by September 2025.

Chase is dedicated to providing resources and support to help customers make the transition to direct deposit smoothly. The Electronic Payment Solution Center at 800-967-6857 is available for assistance with enrolling in direct deposit.

Customers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to streamline their financial management and enjoy the benefits that direct deposit offers.
