Bank appoints Co-CEOs for its Middle Eastern division
In a significant move, our bank has announced the appointment of Khaled El Dabag and Walid Mezher as Co-CEOs of its Middle East region. Both executives bring extensive experience and strong relationships with clients and stakeholders in the region.
Khaled El Dabag, currently the CEO and Head of Investment Banking for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has been with the bank since 2014. He has been instrumental in driving the bank's strategy for the region and will continue to lead the Investment Bank division.
On the other hand, Walid Mezher, who is the Head of Markets for the MENA region, overseeing Sales and Origination activities, has been with the bank for 19 years. He has held numerous leadership roles in Institutional Sales, EFS Solutions, Risk Solutions, and Debt Capital Markets.
The two executives have been working together for over ten years and have established a strong track record of success. They will report to Stephen Dainton, BBPLC President and Head of Investment Bank Management.
Our bank offers best-in-class products and services to corporate, institutional, and private wealth clients through its Investment Bank and Private Bank & Wealth Management teams in the region. The Investment Bank caters to money managers, financial institutions, governments, supranational organizations, and corporate clients for their funding, investing, financing, and strategic and risk management needs.
The bank has also announced the appointment of Farzad Billimoria as Head of Private Bank for the UAE. However, there is no information available about the person appointed as Head of Private Bank for the United Arab Emirates in June 2025.
Our bank has been present in the Middle East and North Africa for over 150 years, and this latest appointment is part of its vision to be the UK-centered leader in global finance. Stephen Dainton, BBPLC President and Head of Investment Bank Management, has stated that the appointments of Khaled El Dabag and Walid Mezher will help further drive efficiency and collaboration in delivering one bank for local and global clients.
