Bangladeshi branch of Standard Chartered Bank introduces Bangla QR payment feature on their SC Mobile App.

Standard Chartered Bangladesh has taken a significant step forward in digital banking by integrating the Bangla QR feature into its SC Mobile App. This move underscores the bank's commitment to providing world-class solutions and reinforcing its role as a pioneer in introducing advanced banking technology in the country.

The Bangla QR is an initiative of Bangladesh Bank aimed at establishing a unified and interoperable payment ecosystem. By integrating with the Bangla QR, Standard Chartered Bangladesh is contributing to Bangladesh's digital transformation and supporting the country's transition towards a digital economy.

With the Bangla QR payment feature, account holders can make instant, secure, and seamless payments. Customers can now scan a merchant's QR code using the SC Mobile App, available on both Android and iOS, to make contactless payments at markets, shops, and restaurants.

The integration of the Bangla QR feature is part of Standard Chartered Bangladesh's 120-year journey in the country. Lutful Habib, Head of Wealth and Retail Banking at Standard Chartered Bangladesh, has stated that this integration underscores the bank's support for Bangladesh's transition towards a digital economy.

The announcement was made at a launch event attended by senior leaders, including P.D. Singh, CEO, India & South Asia; Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO, Bangladesh; Khaled Aziz, Chief Technology and Operations Officer, Bangladesh; and Faisal Haque, Head of Priority and Wealth Management.

This move further highlights Standard Chartered's role in digital banking innovation. The integration of the SC Mobile App with the National Payment Switch of Bangladesh (NPSB) and now with Bangla QR reinforces Standard Chartered Bangladesh's commitment to a cashless society.

The bank's current head of Retail and Private Banking is Partha Pratim Chakraborty. With the introduction of the Bangla QR payment feature, Standard Chartered Bangladesh aims to bring payment convenience to its customers, making digital transactions more accessible and efficient.
